Diabetes UK

The charity for people with diabetes

Diabetes UK is the largest organisation in the UK working for people with diabetes, funding research, campaigning and helping people live with the condition.

We have over 170,000 members and are working for people with diabetes, their carers, family and friends. We represent the interests of people with diabetes by lobbying the government for better standards of care and the best quality of life. Diabetes UK spends up to £6.5 million on research every year to improve the treatment of diabetes and we hope our research will ultimately lead to finding a cure for diabetes.

Our mission is to improve the lives of people with diabetes and to work towards a future without diabetes.

We have a range of user involvement work:

  • Service User Representatives
    • training and support to people on local health service groups
  • Governance
    • people with diabetes, carers and parents of children with the condition are involved in our governance structures
  • Research grant committee
    • people with diabetes are part of the decision making processes
  • Diabetes Campaigners Network
    • campaigners in local areas who feedback to us and from that set our campaigning agenda
  • Diabetes Programme Team Service User Involvement Project work:
